Tianjin FAW Toyota recalls over 33000 Corolla EXs

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 16) - Tianjin FAW Toyota has issued a recall of 33,809 Corolla EX sedans, chinanews.com reported today. The order, which has been handed to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarentine, will target Corolla EXs manufactured between October 10, 2010 and January 1, 2011.

According to ASQIQ's website, the recall is due to faulty static protection in the engine computer shell, which if left untreated may prevent the engine computer from operating normally. In extreme cases, the engine may not start up at all. Tianjin FAW Toyota will install a harness to remedy the problem. The company has contacted owners via SMS, phone, fax and other methods.
