BAIC C70G may be manufactured by end of November
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai September 29) - BAIC's Saab-based C70G own brand car may officially begin production as early as November 30, autohome.com.cn reported today. The car was research and built on the Saab 9-5's GM2900 platform, with its wheelbase expanded to better appeal to Chinese consumers.
The C70G is the first mid- to upper-level car built on the GM2900 platform. Its concept version, the C71 (pictured), has already appeared at several automobile exhibitions. The C70G will sport a larger wheelbase of 2.75 m (up from 2.7 m for the C71) and is expected to be powered by a turbocharged 2.3 L I4 engine mated to a manual transmission.
