New GAC SUV to make market debut next year

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai November 28) - GAC's upcoming SUV, now named the Trumpchi GS5, will officially be coming to the market next April, the Beijing News reported today.

The GS5 (pictured) is based off the X-Power concept, which has been showed off at multiple exhibitions in the past. The GS5 shares its chassis design with the original Trumpchi, while its front double wishbone and rear multilink suspension is based on Alfa Romeo technology. The SUV is powered by either a 1.8 L turbocharged or 2.0 L engine and comes in both 2WD and 4WD versions. According to official statements, the GS5 will include state-of-the-art safety systems.

The GS5 is billed as a next generation urban SUV, aimed squarely at the Great Wall Haval H6, BYD S6, Chery Tiggo and Beijing Hyundai ix35.
