Luxgen5 to be sold in mainland China by Dongfeng Yulon
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 7) - Taiwan's Yulon Motor announced that its Luxgen5 Sedan will be sold by Dongfeng Yulon in mainland China, auto.qq.com reported today. Mainland sales of the car are scheduled to begin by the end of the year.
The Luxgen5 (pictured) is the first car developed fully in Taiwan. It measures 4.65 m long with a wheelbase of 2.72 m. The car's dimensions are very average for a Chinese midsize. It sports 12 storage compartment and eight cup holders, and its rear seats can be arranged in multiple configurations. The Luxgen brand prides itself on the technological superiority of its accessories, with the Luxgen5 being no exception. The central control console has a nine inch multi-purpose LCD screen and the car itself has several LED-powered displays. The dashboard is protected by multilayer optical coating, which ensures that essential information is viewable even under full sunlight. The car also comes with an electronic parking brake system.
The Luxgen5 has two engine options available: a 1.8 L VVT Turbo engine with a maximum input of 110 kW and able to make up to 230 Nm of torque, and a 2.0 L VVT Turbo engine able to produce up to 125 kW and 256 Nm of torque. The former engine is mated to a five-speed manumatic transmission, while the latter is driven by a six-speed manumatic developed by Japanese auto part manufacturer Aisin Seiki. The 2.0 L engine powered version can reach 100 km/h in 8.48 seconds from a standing start, and boasts a top speed of 210 km/h.
Current prices for the Luxgen5 in Taiwan begin at NT$690,000 ($23,690). If the car can be manufactured locally in mainland China, it should be able to maintain that attractive price point.
