Dongfeng Liuzhou to introduce new sedan in 2013
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 10) - Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, a subsidiary of Dongfeng that has performed strongly in the minivan segment in China, is planning to introduce a new subcompact sedan next year, ycwb.com reported today, citing a statement made by Yao Liwen, assistant general manager and head of sales for the manufacturer.
Since its debut four years ago, the Fengxing Joyear (pictured above) has been bringing over 6,000 new sales for Dongfeng Liuzhou per month. Last October the manufacturer introduced the Lingzhi 1.6 L powered minivan, whose sales broke the 2,000 unit barrier the very next month. By December, the Lingzhi's monthly sales had already reached 5,000 units.
The manufacturer has also begun eying the SUV segment, displaying a new SUV version of the Joyear (pictured below) at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition. According to Dongfeng Liuzhou Deputy General Manager of Sales Wu Xuefeng, the new SUV will be priced under 100,000 yuan ($15,861) and will be the only one in its price range equipped with electronic stability control. The manufacturer hopes monthly sales for the SUV will be around 4,000 units.
