Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 5) - A recent study has revealed that noticeable disparities exist between China's 25 test cities for new energy vehicles, the Beijing Morning Post reported today. The results were confirmed by Wang Binggang, director of the national 863 Program's Energy-Saving and New Energy Vehicle program.

According to internal sources, those cities which fail to meet set standards or have seen little results from the project are at risk to lose their test status. Mr. Wang also confirmed that new cities will be added to the program.

At a recently held conference, the Ministry of Finance announced that it will invest 170 billion yuan ($26.84b) to help decrease automobile emissions. Of that amount, one billion to two billion yuan ($157.88m-$315.76m) will be used for subsidies for new energy vehicle purchases.
