Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 15) - Dongfeng Nissan will begin construction work on its fourth Chinese production site, located in Dalian, Liaoning, on June 25, the Beijing Times reported today, citing official sources. The joint venture has continuously denied plans to build a site in the city. The site's production capacity and what models it will manufacture will be announced after construction commences.

Although Dongfeng Nissan has yet to officially announce specifications for the factory, a recent report by Dalian Environmental Protection Bureau reveals that the joint venture has invested over five billion yuan ($791.13m) in the site. According to the report, the 1.26 million sq. m. site will be located in city's free trade zone and boast an annual production capacity of 240,000 vehicles. Construction will take part in two phases.

The report goes further to reveal that the first product made at the site will be of a certain mid-class SUV model, rumored to be the Murano. Production of high-class SUV (predicted to be the X-Trail) and minivan models, as well as an unnamed pure electric sedan, will begin later. The JV has yet to confirm the validity of the report.

Dongfeng Nissan currently has factories in Xiangyang, Hubei, Zhengzhou, Henan and Huadu, Guangdong.
