Hyundai Motor's China sales rise
The Australian - Hyundai Motor, South Korea's leading carmaker, sold 75,158 units in China last month, compared with 63,036 units in the same month of last year, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
The figure was a 17.4 per cent increase from 64,002 in July this year.
In the first eight months of this year, Hyundai Motor sold 511,960 vehicles in China, up seven per cent from 478,525 in the same period last year.
The growth was partly attributed to its increased production capacity in China.
Hyundai Motor completed construction in July of its third Chinese plant in Beijing, which has an annual capacity of 300,000 vehicles.
The new factory is expected to boost Hyundai Motor's overall annual capacity in China to 1 million vehicles.
Since last month, Hyundai Motor's third factory has been rolling out a new sedan exclusively in China, dubbed Langdong.
In August, China's total passenger car sales rose 11.3 per cent to 1.21 million units from 1.08 million units a year earlier.
Compared to July, car sales gained 8.6 per cent from 1.11 million.
During the January-August period, overall passenger car shipments in China reached 9.3 million units.
In 2011, sales of passenger vehicles in China increased by 2.8 per cent on-year to 13.7 million units.
