Gasgoo.com (Shanghai October 15) - Chery and Quantum's Qoros joint venture has recently marked one million hours of operation. According to a report appearing in the Nanfang Daily today, construction work at the JV's production site in Changshu, Jiangsu has essentially been completed. The JV is currently working on installing manufacturing equipment.

The site is scheduled to begin test production by the end of the year. Meanwhile, recruitment and training of assembly staff has already begun. By next year, the site's production staff is anticipated to exceed 1,500 people, when production of its first model will begin.

Qoros, which was originally established in 2007 as Chery Quantum, is a joint venture company equally owned by Chery and Israel Corporation. The JV's first model will make its debut at next March's Geneva Motor Show. Its products will be targeted for sale both in China and export to Europe.
