JAC and GreenTech to build EV sedan in the US
Paul Tan's Automotive News - Chinese automaker Jianghuai Automobile (JAC), together with American company GreenTech Automotive, is set to develop an all-electric sedan for the North American market. The vehicle will be assembled in the United States.
The electric car will be based on JAC’s Rejoice sedan platform and will wear GreenTech's advanced electric powertrain and battery management system. Equipped with a 19 kwh battery, the EV will offer an operating range of over 160 km on a single charge, with a charge time of six to eight hours needed to fully juice it up.
Assembly will take place in GreenTech’s facility located in Horn Lake, Mississippi, beginning late this year, with a pilot programme of 2,000 vehicles kicking things off. GreenTech says it plans to establish another assembly facility for the EV in the future.
The JAC-based EV will join the two-passenger MyCar – which is available with a number of different operating range battery options – in GreenTech’s EV product lineup.
