Changan Ford's sales grow 92% in Q1, New Mondeo to be released by end of year

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 3) - Changan Ford has managed to post sales growth results far above the market average this past quarter. According to a report appearing on scol.com.cn reported today, Changan Ford's year-on-year sales growth reached 92 percent in the first quarter, making it one of the country's fastest growing automobile enterprises. The statistics were announced by Executive Deputy General Manager Luo Minggang in a recent interview.

The introduction of several new models, including the Kuga, EcoSport and New Focus (pictured above), has been crucial in helping boost Changan Ford's sales over the past few months. Even sales of the current generation Mondeo increased 11 percent over the first three months of the year. Mr. Luo is confident that the joint venture's cumulative year-on-year sales growth for the year will exceed the industry average.

The new Mondeo (pictured below), which made its debut at April's Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, will be the newest entry to Changan Ford's line up. According to Mr. Luo, the JV is currently doing preliminary preparation work for the new model's market launch sometime this year, which is progressing very smoothly.

"As far as sales operations are concerned, Changan Ford is working on finding ways to provide better service for its consumers," Mr. Luo said. He added that the JV has plans to expand its sales network from the 466 active dealerships in the end of March to 540 dealerships by the end of the year.

Furthermore, Mr. Luo also revealed that Changan is currently constructing a new engine factory in Chongqing, which is aimed to be completed and begin operation in June. The new factory will manufacture the majority of Ford EcoBoost engines to be sold in China.
