SAIC-GM-Wuling and Changan Suzuki issue vehicle recalls
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 3) - According to an official statement made by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine this weekend, SAIC-GM-Wuling has ordered a recall of its Baojun 630 sedan. The recall, which begun on Saturday, will target a total of 10,856 630s manufactured between November 2011 and May 2013.
The Baojun 630s (pictured) are being recalled due to a design flaw in which the distance between the center of the anti-roll bar and the rear left wheel's brake pipe is excessively small. In extreme situations, the bar may interfere with the pipe, reducing the overall effectiveness of the brake system, potentially threatening the safety of the car's occupants.
SAIC-GM-Wuling has announced that it will conduct free inspection and maintenance of all recalled 630s.
In other news, on that same day, Chongqing-based joint venture Changan Suzuki announced a recall of 4,496 various vehicles manufactured between February and May of this year. The recall covers the Alto, Swift, SX4 and regionally-sold SC7130A.
