Over 400 Ford Explorer SUVs to be recalled in China

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 26) - Ford China will begin recalling imported Explorer SUVs next month, qiche365.org.cn reported today. According to the recall order submitted to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, Ford will recall 409 imported 2013 model year Explorers in mainland China. The vehicles targeted in the recall carry manufacture dates between January 2012 and January 2013.

The Explorers (pictured) are being recalled due to a flaw in the fuel lines, which may wear after extended use and cause potential fuel leaks. The fuel leaks, in turn, may prevent the vehicle's engine from working properly, bring about foul odors or cause the tank to self-combust.

Ford China will conduct free inspection and maintenance of all recalled Explorers. The manufacturer will contact owners of targeted vehicles to schedule appointment times for them to bring their vehicles into certified Ford dealerships. Additionally, unsold Explorers will also be repaired to ensure they have no flaws upon purchase.
