Sales of SUV/MPV Increases Rapidly & Japanese Cars Goes Against the Market
In accordance with the data from China Automotive Industry Association, the sales of passenger cars in October is second largest this year. For SUV/MPV, models and sales both increase and Japanese cars shows great performance comparing with last year.
In the first 3 quarters of this year, the sales of SUV keep increasing rapidly and sharply. There are 13 new models last year and 11 new models this year coming into the market. This expansion must take over the market share of other models. For MPV, its market is much more profound and mature. The year-on-year growth of MPV is significant, even reaching 100% in most months of this year. It is said the increasing sales of SUV & MPV shows the diversification of demand and the fading of conformity in auto market. Also it is the performance of customers’ mature idea.
In October, the year-on-year growth of passenger cars keeps decreasing although the occupancy increases significantly comparing to last month. The share of Japanese cars recovers to 17% and the year-on-year growth of sales is 1.8 times of last year. (The share of Japanese cars was lower than 10% last year). But the growth of American cars is more than 20% so Japanese auto manufacturers still needs more time to get back market shares.
In October 2013, the top 10 auto manufacturers are as follows: FAW-Volkswagen, Shanghai General Motor, Shanghai Volkswagen, Dongfeng Nissan, Beijing Hyundai, Changan Ford, Geely, DPCA, Guangqi Hondaand FAW Toyota. These 10 enterprises have sold 705.8 thousand cars, occupying 66.65% of total sales.
