Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 7) –With Changan Mazda launching its upgraded model of CX-5 SUV, the joint-venture is intending to gain larger sales in China through strengthening the backbone role of its SUV for sales growth.

Changan Mazda has reported sales of 61,500 units in the first five months of the year, surging by 75.8% on a year-on-year basis, which means the company has reported sales growth for a 21st consecutive month in May.

Among all the Models, Mazda 3 Axela stands out for its hottest sales, taking up more than 40% of the whole Mazda’s sales. Mazda 3 Axela reported 8,299 units sold in May, skyrocketing by 148.3% year-on-year. On the other hand, as the main force for sales, CX-5’s accumulative sales for the first five months declined by 24% to 18,000 units compared with the same period of the year earlier. Therefore, in order to offer a better portfolio for the fast growing SUV market, Changan Mazda immediately upgrades the CX-5.

The brand new CX-5 embraces four models of 2.0L and 2 models of f2.5L. The selling price of these six models varies from 169,800 to 245,800 CNY. Mazda stated that given that the increasing improvement of China’s road condition and vehicle use condition, the automaker will alter the service intervals for SKYACTIV-G engine for the whole series of SKYACTIV Technology. After the first maintenance, for models using SM and even better Engine Oil, the max maintenance intervals will be extended to 10,000 kilometers or six months, lowering the maintenance cost of drivers.
