Geely to become an Alternative Energy Automaker by 2020
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai Nov 24)– On the eve of Guangzhou Motor Show, Geely has officially announced its initiative of developing alternative energy vehicles, dubbed “Blue Geely”, representing this Chinese carmaker’s focus shift from conventional vehicles to alternative energy vehicles.
By the year of 2020, Geely expects to see that alternative energy models, including 65% of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and 35% of pure electric vehicles, will account 90% of its overall vehicles sales. To speed up the implement of its alternative energy initiative, Geely will focus on the development of electric vehicles (EV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles(PHEV) and hybrid electric vehicles(HEV), with the help of its 3 existing platforms, namely the Framework Extendable Platform(FE) for mid- and high-end pure EV, PE Platform for small pure EV and CMA(Compact Modular Architecture) Platform for mid-class models.

By 2018, Emgrand will offer a driving range exceeding 400 km with power consumption below 13 watts per 100 km. Geely will further push the limits of Emgrand, by the year of 2020,Emgrand owners will enjoy a driving range of more than 500 km with power consumption below 13 watts per 100 km. Besides, Geely’s1.5TD 7DCTH plug-in hybrid powertrain, developed by the company’s European center, will be introduced across Geely product lines. This powertrain will help Geely to further lower its fuel consumption step by step and finally achieve its fuel consumption goal of blow 1.5L per 100km.
In the future, Geely will expand its investments in the fields of research and development, technology, supply chain and company operation.
