Luxury car prices decreased by 0.5% y-o-y in May

According to the statistics, China Auto Price Index (CAPI) fell by 0.5% in May 2007, more than that of 2005 and 2006. The prices of Audi A6L, BMW, Crown, Chrysler 300C, have shown a significant drop.

Recently, Volvo's new model S80, which was imported since October last year, had cut its price by 70,000 yuan. A few days later, the BMW 7 series price was decreased between 38,000 to 96,000 yuan. Meanwhile, the Chrysler 300C2.7 has been priced at 300,000 yuan, a very competitive price in luxury car market.

The plunge of the car prices has boosted the overall sales of luxury car. According to the statistics, Chrysler 300C sales topped 1,000 units in May globally. Chrysler Group's total sales reached 20,553 units in May this year, an increase of 24% year on year whereas in the Northeast Asia region, Chrysler Group's sales between January and May increased by 5% year on year.
