BMW sales in China up 38% in H1

BMW AG has sold 23,667 BMW-brand sedans and Mini-brand cars in the first six months, up 38% year on year, of which 22,891 units were sold in Chinese mainland, an increase of 36% year on year, according to Chinese media report.

Sales of the BMW brand, especially China-made 5-Series sedans, rose 36 percent to 22,891 units, BMW announced. Meanwhile Mini-brand cars sales in China's domestic market reached 776 units in the first half, an increase of 131%.

BMW AG also announced recently its sales rose by 4.5 percent in the first six months of the year globally. The Munich-based company said it sold 730,285 BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce vehicles from January to June, compared with 698,482 a year earlier.

In June, the carmaker said it sold 150,285 cars in global market, an increase of 15.1 percent from 130,542 it sold in the same month last year, which represents a new record for BMW monthly car sales.
