SUV sales in China doubled in July

Shanghai. August 14 (Gasgoo.com) - China's passenger vehicle sales experienced steady growth year to date, according to China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

Passenger vehicle sales in July reached 457,200 units, up 36.52 percent year on year, however, the July sales are 10.45 lower month on month due to seasonal factors.

SUV sales grew 100.80 percent year on year In July. Top five SUV brands in July were Hafu, Tiggo, Honda CRV, Tucson and Liebao, total sales of these brand models were 19,600 vehicles, accounting for 67 percent of the total.

Top ten best-selling sedan brands in July include Santana, Jetta, Camry, Excelle, Focus, Xiali, QQ, Lova, Passat GP and Junjie. Total sales of the top ten brand vehicles were 116,300 units or 33 percent of the total sedan sales.

In the MPV market segment, the top five MPV vehicle models were Odessey, Buick GL8, Ruifeng, Fengxing and Jinbei Geruisi. With total sales of 12,900 vehicles in July, the above top five represent 74 percent of the overall MPV sales.

Top three automakers remained almost unchanged from the previous month with FAW Volkswagen topping the list, followed by Shanghai Volkswagen and Shanghai General Motors.

The top ten sellers, which also include FAW Toyota, Chery Auto, DFL, Guangzhou Honda, Changan Ford, Geely and Guangzhou Honda, sold 239,000 vehicles in July, representing 64 percent of market share in sedan segment.
