Chery's vehicle exports up 250 percent in Jan-July
Shanghai. August 24 (Gasgoo.com) – Chery's vehicle exports reached 58,413 units in the first seven months of this year, up 250 percent from a year earlier. The company still leads the nation in vehicles exportation.
"As an indigenous automaker, Chery has been focusing on exploring the oversea market from the very beginning," said Zhou Biren, deputy general manager of Chery. "Currently Chery already has seven assembly plants in six countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Egypt, Indonesia and Uruguay."
"We plan to open 14 new plants overseas and export 600,000 vehicles by 2010," Zhou told Xinhua News Agency at the sidelines of a launching ceremony for the company's one millionth vehicle.
Three trends are visible from Chery's impressive successful story, Zhou said.
First, export volume keeps growing on large scale; secondly, more car models are available, such as Eastar, Tiggo and A5; these three models now account for 50 percent of Chery's total exports. Lastly, about 80 percent of those vehicles for export are delivered on completely-knock-down (CKD) units and assembled at oversea plant.
