Auto sales volume ranking list in August, 2016: Jetta exceeded Lavida to be car champion

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai September 12th, 2016) Passenger vehicle market achieves a sales volume of 1.76m units in August, increasing 28.5% with the same period of last year and keeping level with July’s growth. But the ranking result has changed greatly.

Wuling Hongguang ranks first among all passenger vehicle market, with the sales volume reaching 45,831 units and increasing 2.5%. It also keeps average monthly sales of more than 40,000 units this year, but the total sales in the previous 8 months dropped 1.9%. MPV Baojun 730 recovers sales in August and ranks 7th with sales of 28,928 units, while Baojun 560’s sales volume continuously decreases 11.8% to 15,112 units. 

Haval 6’s sales volume exceeded 40,000 units again, increasing 49.4%. Trumpchi GS4, which ranked 6th, also increases 102.6% to 29,000 units.

Six car brands rank top 10 sales models, with an average sales volume exceeding 20,000 units. Jetta, Lavida, and New Excelle all sell more than 30,000 units in August, while Corolla sells 23,318 units and ranks 10th.

Car market reaches a growth of 19.6% in August, with new cars selling 917,000 units. Arrizo 5 is the best-selling self-independent car brand, selling 16,800 units in August and ranking 11th. Emgrand EC7 also performs well, increasing 14.8% to 13,525 units in sales and ranking 15th. Other self-independent car brand includes Eado, which ranks 22th.

A total of 137 models are calculated in SUV market, which increase 42.6% to 665,000 in sales. Self-independent brands have obvious advantages in SUV market, which rank six places in top 10 brands. American brand, German brand, Korean brand and Japanese brand take one place respectively.

MPV market has an overall growth of 31.9% in August, selling 177,000 units. Top ten brands are Wuling Hongguang, Baojun 730, Honor, Auchan, Weiwang M30, Buick GL8, Huansu H3, Fengxing S500, Lingzhi and Jinbei 750, which have a total sales volume of 135,000 units and comprising 42.3% of the market sales.
