Shanghai. December 6 (Gasgoo.com) - Dongfeng Nissan would start to locally produce Nissan's compact car Micra, luxury sedan Fuga and Qashqai and X-Trail SUV models in China next year, a company source said.
This is part of the automaker’s plan to expand its product lineup in Chinese market next year. Nissan first introduced its Fuga to Chinese market in 2005. The imported Fuga is sold currently at a range of 478,000 yuan ($64,605) to 548,000 ($74,066) in Chinese market and the imported X-Trail, introduced in 2002, is sold at about 300,000 yuan ($40,547) or higher. To make them cheaper, the automaker hopes to locally produce these vehicles.
The other two models, Micra and Qashqai, were just unveiled at Frankfurt and Guangzhou auto shows in the second half of this year.
Dongfeng Nissan is a 50:50 joint venture established by Dongfeng Motor and Nissan Motor in mid-2003. The joint venture’s product lineup includes new Nissan Bluebird, Nissan Sunny, Teana, Sylphy, Tiida, etc.
Currently, 60-70 percent of automotive parts used in vehicles produced by Dongfeng Nissan are locally made in China and the joint venture automaker plans to further increase its percentage.
