Chery sold 37,100 vehicles in Russia, up 245% year-on-year

Shanghai. January 21 (Gasgoo.com) – China’s largest automobile exporter Chery sold 37,100 vehicles in Russian market last year, up 245 percent from one year earlier, according to a report released by the Russia-based Association of Europe Business (AEB).
 
In 2007, Russia imported 190,600 Chevrolet vehicles, up 71 percent from one year earlier, 175,800 Ford vehicles, up 52 percent from previous year and 147,800 Hyundai vehicles, up 47 percent from one year earlier, the AEB report said.
 
Chery stands at 13th in Russian market among 25 most popular brands that Russia imported last year.
 
Last year, Chery, sold 381,000 vehicles, up 24.8 percent from one year earlier. Strong surge in sedan exports is a driving force behind Chery’s impressive sales growth. About one third of Chery’s auto sales are attributed to its exports.
 
The company exported 119,800 vehicles in 2007, up 132 percent from one year earlier. Chery has been China’s biggest sedan exporter for five years in a row.
