China becomes Audi's second biggest market globally
Shanghai. January 22 (Gasgoo.com) – German luxury automaker Audi said its sales in China, including Hong Kong, rose 25 percent to a record 101,996 vehicles, which makes China the largest market for Audi besides Germany, China Business News reported today.
In 2007, Audi sold 100,888 vehicles in China's mainland market, up 24.8 percent from one year earlier. Altogether, the company sold 93,168 domestically made Audi vehicles in the same year, while 7,720 Audi vehicles were imported. Demand was highest for its A6 and A4 models.
"We expect in 2008 a further increase in vehicle sales and anticipate a push from the market launch of the Audi R8, as well as the A5 and S5," Audi sales and marketing boss Ralph Weyler said in a statement.
