Shanghai. February 26 (Gasgoo.com) – Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company will launch four new models, including three locally made models in China in 2008, a senior company official announced yesterday.

"The four models to go on sale in China are Qashqai, March, X-Trail and another high-end model," Ren Yong, Dongfeng Nissan's deputy general manager said in a company conference.

Qashqai will be available in both 1.6 Liter engine and 2.0 Liter engine versions by mid March. Production of the model was started yesterday at the automaker’s plant in Guangzhou. The model is priced between 149,800 ($20,974) and 179,800 yuan ($25,175).

The locally-made X-trail and a Teana-based high-end model will go on sale by the second half of this year. The Teana-based high end model, with appearance similar to that of Nissan Fuga, will be priced at 250,000 yuan ($35,000)and 300,000 yuan ($42,000), which is a bit higher than the price of Teana.

Dongfeng Nissan also plans to locally produce Micra, though it does not set a timetable for it. The 1.6L three-door Micra is sold at 74,000 yuan ($10,300) in Europe currently.

Ren said the joint venture automaker aims to sell 345,000 vehicles this year and become one of China's top five passenger vehicle makers.

Last year, Dongfeng Nissan sold 271,916 vehicles in Chinese market, about 30,000 short of its target for 2007. Currently, the automaker is ranked No.7 among China's passenger vehicle makers.
