Daimler to recall 1,588 Viano, Vito vehicles in China

Shanghai, April 8 (Gasgoo.com) Germany automaker Daimler-Benz AG started to recall 1,588 Viano, Vito vehicles in China yesterday to fix a faulty fuel pipe that could lead to a fuel leakage.

In a filing to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the automaker said that on some Viano, Vito vehicles it is possible that a fuel leak, or even hose detachment, may occur at the connection point between the fuel supply line from the tank and the engine.

The affected vehicles were produced from October 2003 to September 2006. Six accidents because of  the defect have been reported.

Customers will be notified by letter to go to the nearest dealer where their vehicles will undergo a simple modification procedure free of charge.
