SPVs make up 40% of China's total truck production

Shanghai, May 12 (Gasgoo.com) The special purpose vehicles (SPV) in China now make up 40%of the total truck production and have played an important role in China's auto industry, Insiders of SPV Branch of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (AAM) said in Shanghai. A massive exhibition platform has been established in Shanghai for periodic show for the country's SPV makers.

Special purpose vehicles are widely used thanks to their sedan-like smart features and various utilities. Through 40 years of development, China has reached a certain SPV scale with the annual production close to 500,000 units, covering 40% of total truck production. And heavy-duty special truck takes up over 70% of total truck production.

According to insiders of S P V Branch of AAM China, China now produces about 5,000 types of SPVs, including the towing vehicle, van, tanker, crane / lift truck, construction machinery transporter and some other vehicles. Currently China-made semi-trailer transporter has taken certain share in the Southeast, European, American and Japanese markets. The construction machinery vehicles are also expanding its market share in the Middle East.

Shanghai International Special Purpose Vehicles & Spare Parts Exhibition, held every two years, is the most influential and largest SPV exhibition in China. The 2008 exhibition will be held at Shanghai Jiading Automobile Exhibition Center from Oct., 28 to 30. Over 200 enterprises from home and abroad will take part in the exhibition with more than 200 finished cars. About 50,000 professional spectators will go to the exhibition.
