Top donations by carmakers to Sichuan earthquake relief

Shanghai, May 20 (Gasgoo.com) Like all companies and individuals in China, carmakers in the country, national ones, foreign ones or joint ventures, have made generous donations to the relief efforts of the May 12 Sichuan earthquake, a devastating disaster that has now killed more than 40,000 people and injured over 250,000.
 
Top 4 donations by carmakers of national brands:

1. Chery Automobile: 16 million yuan (or $2.3 million, including 12 million yuan in cash, the value of 10,000 tents and 30 vehicles).
2. BYD Auto: 13 million yuan in cash (10 million yuan donated by the corporation and 3 million yuan by the top management), plus 1,000 hoisting jacks.
3. Geely Group: 10 million yuan in cash (including 1.5 million yuan donated by its CEO) and some vehicles.
4. Brilliance China: 1.31 million yuan in cash (donated by its employees), plus 5.8 million yuan worth of ambulances, SUVs and other vehicles.

Top 7 donations by foreign carmakers and their joint ventures:

1. Hyundai-Kia and JVs: 12.6 million yuan (including six Kia Sportage SUVs by Dongfeng Yueda Kia Motors).
2. Ford and its JVs: 5 million yuan (including 1 million yuan by Ford Motor, 1 million yuan worth of Ford Transit vehicles, 1.5 million yuan by Changan Ford Mazda, and 1.5 million yuan worth of JMC/Ford vehicles by Jiangling (Ford) Motors).
3. Changhe Suzuki: 3 million yuan worth of vehicles and relief supplies.
4. Mazda, and Changan Ford Mazda: 2.5 million yuan in cash (including 1 million yuan donated by Mazda Motor and Mazda China, 1.5 million yuan by Changan Ford Mazda).
5. FAW-Volkswagen: 2 million yuan in cash.
6. Dongfeng Nissan: 15 million yen (1.01 million yuan) in cash, plus 10 Nissan Rogue vehicles.
7. Brilliance BMW: 1 million yuan in cash, plus three BMW X3 vehicles.
