Shanghai, June 16 (Gasgoo.com) The sales of passenger cars are expected to surge by 15%-16% this year in the Chinese market, according to analysis by National Passenger Car Information Exchange Association.

The Association estimated that sales of passenger vehicles will reach 7 million units from 6 million units of last year. The total auto sales will surpass 10 million units.

With consecutive slide of sales in April and May from the previous month, pessimism for passenger vehicle market is prevailing. Mr Rao Da, Secretary-General of National Passenger Car Information Exchange Association said the Sichuan earthquake has dispelled all the optimistic predictions from the automotive industry.

But Rao convinced that it’s unnecessary to be pessimistic for June sales. The concern for the earthquake is declining as the key period of quake relief is past, so some consumers who originally planned to have cars will buy cars in June. After June, dealers will also bring more models to boost car sales. Besides, the Olympic Economy by August will also help.
