Guangdong to Build EV Charging Infrastructures with 54 Billion Yuan

In order to expand the popularization and application of electric vehicles, Guangdong National Development and Reform Commission has recently issued EV Charging Infrastructures Planning of Guangdong(2016-2020) and Operation and Management Methods of Guangdong’s Charging Infrastructures Building for EV respectively, which made the targets, tasks and measures of the development of EV charging infrastructures for Guangdong’s 13th Five Year clear.

The overall goal of Guangdong’s 13th Five Year Plan is to build about 1490 centralized charging stations covering the whole province by 2020, including 590 charging stations for buses, 170 for taxis, 300 for special vehicles used for logistics and environmental sanitation, 330 for public, 100 intercity fast-charging stations built in highway service areas and about 350 thousand distributed charging posts.

According to Wu Daowen, deputy director of Guangdong National Development and Reform Commission, there were 298 already-built charging stations and 22.6 thousand distributed charging piles by the end of 2015, mainly covering the Pearl River Delta area.

Guangdong province is to invest a total of 54 billion yuan for charging infrastructures building during the 13th Five Year, which is expected to promote the power battery output by 42 billion yuan and EV output by 220 billion yuan.

EV charging of the whole Guangdong province should be over 12 billion KWH, which reducing alternative fuel by more than 3.1 million tons and carbon dioxide emission by more than 1.4 million tons.

Guangzhou city is scheduled to build 29 charging stations and 27 thousand charging posts for public during the period of 2016 to 2020. Besides, the city will also build 56 charging stations for buses, 15 for taxis, 70 for special-used vehicles and 6400 charging piles for internal used only.
