BAIC worked out three steps for future when looking back to the past 7 years

SHANGHAI December 22nd, 2016 Gasgoo –GNEV7 was hold in China World Hotel Beijing on Dec 17th and Mr. Zheng Gang, general manager of BAIC BJEV, made address on the opening ceremony of the forum, elaborating on the innovative practices of BAIC BJEV during its development, which he called the three steps of grasping the trend and defining of the future.

As one of China’s five giant auto groups and a group ranks 160th of the world top 500, BAIC set up BAIC BJEV in 2009 and focused on the R&D and expanding of PEVs and the core EIC system. The company has already brought together a group of team members with dreams since 2009.

The First Step: From Technology to Products

The first step for BAIC BJEV to realize its dreams is to concentrate on the R&D of EV150, its first EV, based on traditional vehicles. The car has conducted taxi demonstration running 5 years ago, and improved its quality with plenty of data and service-promotion. In 2015, EV150 and its electric drive system gained the first prize for scientific and technological progress of PEVs of national level. It also been used as the designated reception car in APEC meetings in Beijing.

In 2014, BAIC BJEV achieved its first batch of private drivers and had its products upgraded with the expanding of user group, then EV200, EU260 and EX210 all derived from it. It will be updated into EH400 and being listed soon.

The Second Step: From Products to Service

The second step of BAIC BJEV is to transform from products to services. Zheng Gang said the company began to distribute in fields like periodic lease, charging and alternative power, and used cars.

BAIC BJEV’s i-link™ intelligent connection brand will no longer limited to traditional connected cars, which only fused with the concept of internet initially to provide services of security and protection, navigation and information, instead of making use of variety of sensor technologies, integrating resources of internet, solving problems like route planning, environment recognition, driving safety, visualized operations and driver assistant, providing al-side intelligent driving situations for drivers and make it to be an important part of the construction of smart cities in the future.

The Third Step: From Service to Platform

After striving for two years, BAIC BJEV came up with an execution plan called E=MC2. The first platform is the polycentric R&D platform of two departments, distribute R&D work for battery, electric driving, connected cars, sports cars and racing cars in Silicon Valley, Detroit, Aachen of German and Barcelona in Spain respectively. The second platform is a manufacturing platform for PEVs with 1+2+I+P, the “1” represents the headquarter in Beijing, the “2” represents the two bases in Changzhou and Qingdao, the “I” means the external ecosystem accumulated for years, and the “P” is on behalf of the production resources in common within BAIC. The third platform is the platform for charging, periodic lease and online car-hailing services.
