Geely prepares for two high-end platforms to launch SUV and electric vehicles

Shanghai 27th May 2017 Gasgoo - Geely released its alternative energy strategy “Blue Geely initiate” for the first time in 2015, planning to lift alternative energy vehicles’ sales volume to more than 90% of total sales volume in 2020.

Recently, a senior manager in Geely Group told media that Geely Auto has prepared for two specialized high-end platforms in PHEV and BEV areas. It’s learned that a small-size SUV and a BEV model with range of 500 KM will be launched on the above two platforms.

Currently, Geely Auto has only one BEV model Emgrand EV 300, originated from Geely FE BEV platform with a range of 300KM. Besides, Geely also plans for a BEV specialized structure PMA platform. According to previous news, Geely will launch several models including A0-class CROSS, A-class hatchback and A+-class SUV. The first model will be launched in 2020 with range of 500KM.

The BMA passenger project located in Chengdu this April will produce new small-size SUV in the future, based on the CMA basic modular structure co-developed by Geely and Volvo. It will reach international level by equipping advanced dynamic systems including PHEV and HEV.

Geely’s HEV models will use the self-independently researched GHS platform, which is the first single-mode input and compound dynamic split system. PHEV models will use the 1.5TD+7DCTH dynamic system platform developed by Geely European R&D center, and the oil consumption per 100 KM will reduce to 1.5L.
