WEY’s 300,000th vehicle rolls off the production line at Xushui plant

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- It is reported that the 300,000th vehicle of WEY, the premium SUV brand of Great Wall Motors (GWM), officially rolled off the production line at the plant located at Xushui, Baoding, where the company is headquartered. According to GWM, since WEY VV7, the brand’s first product, hit the market, WEY’s cumulative sales have reached nearly 300,000 units.

In addition to an R&D center at its headquarters in the north China city of Baoding, the brand also set up R&D centers in Japan, the United States, Germany, India, Austria and South Korea. Among them, the R&D center in Munich, Germany and the national hydrogen innovation center in Baoding focus on the “hydrogen energy technology” for future competition.

Besides, the brand has made certain achievements in the R&D of intelligent driving technologies such as 5G applications and V2X (vehicle-to-everything). In the next five years, the brand is expected to invest 30 billion yuan ($4.2 billion) in active and passive safety technology, intelligent connectivity and autonomous driving.

It is said the Xushui facility, with an expected area of 13 million square meters and an investment of over 30 billion yuan ($4.2 billion), is the largest and most technologically advanced factory of the automaker. The plant is fitted with a vehicle R&D center and high-speed testing track as well as the four traditional workshops of stamping, welding, painting and assembly.
