Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Great Wall Motor (GWM) is going to offer the first glimpse of an all-new off-road SUV dubbed “Tank 300” at the Chengdu Motor Show 2020 that kicked off on July 24. This is the first model built on the “Tank·WEY” platform the automaker launched earlier this week.

According to the teaser photos released via WEY's WeChat account, the Tank 300 elicits a closer look to that of the Haval Big Dog with such elements as circular headlights and masculine character lines still adopted.

The front looks quite unmistakable thanks to the iconic grille with the WEY's logo located at the center. The side-opening tailgate and spare tire add more retro essences to the vehicle.

The license plate frame is on the left side of the rear bumper, which is a rather special design.

GWM recently grabbed a whopping attention by its unusual naming methods. On the heels of the Haval-branded “Big Dog” SUV, The ORA White Cat, the third mass-produced model of Great Wall Motor (GWM)'s BEV-focused brand ORA, formally hit the market on July 15.

The company launched on July 20 three all-new technology brands, dubbed “Lemon”, “Tank” and “Coffee Intelligence”, demonstrating its ambition to drive the transition to being a global mobility technology and service provider from being a mere vehicle manufacturer.

The “Tank” is positioned as a global professional intelligent off-roader platform that contains SUV and pickup models in the segments from B to D+.

GWM noted that the “Tank” platform will adopt the 2.0 GDIT and the 3.0 GDIT engines, which are paired with 9-speed automatic transmission. Notably, the 3.0 one is able to pump out a maximum of 260kW and 500 N·m of peak torque, delivering a thermal efficiency of 38%. In addition, the Tank-based vehicles will feature a basic wading depth of 965mm and an active suspension height adjustable range of 120mm.
