Tesla builds information service subsidiary in Dalian

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Tesla set up a new subsidiary in Dalian, a major sub-provincial port city in Liaoning province, on Jan. 27, 2020.

The new company, named Tesla Motors Information Service (Dalian) Co.,Ltd., involves a registered capital of $1 million and is wholly owned by Tesla Motors HK Limited, according to the corporate data platform Qichacha. Zhu Xiaotong, Tesla’s global vice president and head of Tesla China, serves as its legal representative.

Business scope of the Dalian-based company extends to cover the services like information consultation and assembly of information systems.

The U.S. EV manufacturer is expanding its business deployment in the world's largest electric vehicle (EV) market. According to Qichacha, Tesla Motors HK Limited has to-date founded up to 42 subsidiaries in China. Last year, 10 plus sales service subsidiaries of Tesla was established in Changchun, Nanning, Nanchang, Fuzhou, Haikou, Kunming, Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan, Jinan, Hefei, Harbin and Guiyang.

According to the China Insurance Regulatory Commission, the insurance registrations of the made-in-China Model 3 amounted to 138,491 units in 2020, making the vehicle the hottest-selling new energy vehicle (NEV) model in China. Notably, the monthly volume hit a new high of 23,469 units in December, of which 18,802 units were sold to individual users.

In terms of regional performance, Shanghai was the No.1 city with a total of 32,812 China-made Model 3 insured there in 2020. Besides, both Shenzhen and Beijing saw their annual registrations top 140,000 units.

Tesla started delivering the locally-produced Model Ys in mid-January. The annual capacity of the China-made crossover is expected to reach 200,000 units.
