Haval’s first large-sized SUV to be all-new Haval H5

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Haval, the SUV-dedicated brand of Great Wall Motor (“GWM”), announced on Mar. 9 via its WeChat account that its first large-sized SUV model will be part of the Haval H5 lineup.

The all-new Haval H5 has been included into a catalogue recently issued by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (“MIIT”). It is the fire new large-sized SUV previously reported under the code-named P04.

According to the patent images released by the MIIT, the all-new Haval H5 adopts a brand new design style. The vehicle’s front features a large-sized grille with thick chrome decorations. The squarish headlight cluster incorporates lens headlights, LED turn signal lights, and daytime running lights, making the entire front look more like an U.S.-style SUV.

As for the side profile, the rooflines appear flatter, which is conducive to enlarge the headroom. In addition, the new car's waistline does not run through the entire body of the car, but forms a corner between the front and rear doors. The new SUV also has a large C-pillar.

The all-new Haval H5 is 5,190mm/1,905mm/1,835mm in length/width/height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 3,140mm.

At the rear, the vertically installed taillights and the dual rectangular exhaust pipes on both sides make the vehicle look more dynamic and powerful. 

The all-new Haval H5 has a curb weight of 2,120 (2,155) kg and comes with a choice of 17-inch and 18-inch wheels with tire sizes of 245/65 R17 and 245/60 R18.

In terms of powertrain, the vehicle is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine that is good for up to 122kW or a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine (maximum power of 145 kW/165 kW), paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
