BMW X6 flagship to sell in China for 1.44 mln yuan

Shanghai, July 22 (Gasgoo.com) The BMW X6 brand that was imported to China earlier this month will make its flagship xDrive50i model available to Chinese buyers in November. The car will be powered by by BMW's state-of-the-art 4.4L V8 twin-turbo engine and is expected to sell in the Chinese market for 1.44 million yuan ($211,000), said Beijing Times today.

As the world's first Sports Activity Coupe (SAC), the BMW X6 is a mix of unique features and performance ability. The new BMW X6's design combines the sporting elegance of a large BMW Coupe with the powerful BMW X presence. In its design, the BMW X6 definitely offers all the DNA of a genuine BMW X Model, interpreted in a brand-new, extremely sporting style.

The BMW X6 is available in two engine variants: the xDrive50i (4.4 V8 engine, 400 hp, 450lb.-ft torque) and the xDrive35i (3.0 inline six-cylinder engine, 300 hp, 300 lb.-ft torque), both with Twin Turbo and direct injection. The xDrive35i version went on sale in China in early July for 970,000 yuan.

The xDrive50i version is the flagship model of BMW X6 introduced to China, and is the first BMW coupe equipped with the new V8 engine featuring the Twin Turbo technology and direct gasoline injection. The eight-cylinder engine fulfils both the US ULEV II emissions standard as well as the EU5 requirements in Europe.

The BMW X6 comes as standard with BMW's intelligent xDrive all-wheel-drive technology with electronic control for variable distribution of drive power between the front and rear axles, consistently adjusted to driving conditions at all times and in all situations.
