SHANGHAI -- TRW Automotive Holdings Corp. is supplying seatbelts, airbags and other occupant safety systems for SAIC Motor's Roewe 550 sedan.

Most of the products that the Detroit-based company is supplying to SAIC are built in China. The seatbelt system, for example, is being built by a joint venture of SAIC and TRW.

TRW is also supplying side-impact, rollover and lane-departure warning sensors, antilock brakes and electronic stability control systems for the 550.

SAIC Motor is a unit of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. The 550 was launched in June. Its price starts at 142,800 yuan ($20,846).

The 550 is Roewe second model, following the Roewe 750 sedan, which was launched at the end of 2006.

TRW ranks 11th on the Automotive News list of the 100 largest suppliers. It had $13.6 billion in global sales in 2007. TRW also makes braking and engine components.
