Swedish Autoliv Co. will set up a steering wheel branch in Shanghai. This is not only the 10th such global subsidiary, but also is the sixth production factory to be build by Autoliv in China.

This new plant will be combined with a new airbag assembly plant to manufacture auto parts. The plant covers an area of 11,000 square meters, the production capacity initially aims at 1 million steering wheels, and hopefully to reach 2.5 million within three years. The installation and debugging of production and testing equipment will be completed in October, and plans to go into production next year. The total investment is expected to reach 10 million U.S. dollars.
