China intl vehicles company to make cars in Nigeria

China International Vehicles Company (CIVC) is to partner with Nigeria's Zamfara State Government to establish an assembly plant for the manufacturing of Rosa buses that may be utilized for both official and public transport in the state and Nigeria at large.

This was made known by the Special Adviser to Governor Mahmud Shikafi on private sector development, Alhaji Sanusi Garba Rikiji while briefing newsmen in his office penultimate week.

According to Rikiji the China vehicles company was also desirous to providing technical expertise and training for indigenous engineers in form of technology transfer.

He further explained that the state government was to provide land for setting up of the necessary structures which he said would cost about $1.5 million (U.S Dollars) equivalent to N170 million.

Alhaji Rikiji also disclosed that, about $4 million (US Dollars) was expected to be used as floating capital within the first three years of operation by the state government while about 1200pcs buses were to be manufactured in the first year and in subsequent years.

On employment opportunity, the Special Adviser said that, about 150 skilled and semi skilled indigenes of the state would be employed with 30 of them occupying managerial positions in the company. He then called on people of the state to cooperate with the state government in order to develop the state.

In a similar vain, as part of it’s effort to reduce the cost of road construction in the state, Zamfara State Government would purchase a crusher for the establishment of a state own quarry plant, the Special Adviser to Governor Aliyu Shinkafi on rural roads development Engr. Mustapha Mayana has disclosed.

According to Alhaji Mayana over N280 million has been submitted to the state executive council for approval for the procurement of materials, lubricants and asphalts for the proposed company.
