China ambitious to boost 5G, Beidou system applications in transportation industry

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- China resolves to promote and popularize the industrial applications powered by advanced technologies, such as 5G, the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, the remote-sensing satellite, cybersecurity, data center and AI (like autonomous driving) as part of efforts to boost the construction of information infrastructures, according to the guiding opinions issued by China's Ministry of Transport (MOT) on August 6.

The MOT said China is ambitious to make significant achievements in constructing the so-called new infrastructures. To be specific, the transportation infrastructures would be profoundly powered by cutting-edge information technologies and the abilities of precision perception, accurate analysis, delicacy management and meticulous service supply would be comprehensively improved.

The country also aims to effectively control the energy consumption of the infrastructure construction and operation, enable the traffic and transportation industry to be deeply supported by ubiquitous sensing facilities, advanced data transmission network as well as Beidou spatial-temporal information service. Besides, the industrial data center and cybersecurity system would be basically established and such vehicles as intelligent trains, autonomous cars and intelligent ships would be gradually popularized by 2035.

In addition to encouraging the construction of information infrastructures, the government and the transportation industry should work to build highly efficient smart transportation infrastructures. To fulfill this task, much importance will be placed to the development of smart roads, intelligent railways, smart channels, smart ports, smart aviation, smart postal services, smart transport hubs and the application of new materials and new energy.
