BYD surpasses CATL in installed capacity in April
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD took the lead in battery industry with a total installed capacity of 1.34GWh in April, 2018, taking up 35% market shares. It is the first time for BYD to excel CATL and rank first in monthly installed capacity after one year.
Before 2016, BYD took up the largest market shares in the Chinese battery market. However, during January, 2017 and March, 2018, BYD was surpassed by CATL in battery market shares.
China's April installed capacity reached 3.756GWh, soaring 261.56% year on year and leaping 77.63% month on month, according to D1ev.com.
All vehicle types saw YoY growth of installed capacity in April. To be specific, the installed capacity of pure electric buses reached 1.29GWh, skyrocketing 3362.08% from a year earlier, and taking up 34% shares of the entire installed capacity in April.
Pure electric passenger vehicle experienced YoY surge of 157.21% in installed capacity to 2.06GWh in April, taking up the month's largest shares of 55%. Plug-in hybrid bus posted installed capacity of 0.23GWh, leaping 129.47% from a year earlier.
