CHJ Automotive to invest RMB 11 billion to build manufacturing base in Chongqing
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese EV startup CHJ Automotive recently signed an agreement with Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, saying that the startup will invest RMB 10 billion to build an intelligent automobile manufacturing base in Chongqing, which will cover an area of 1,800mu (1.2 square kilometers), achieve an annual production capacity of 400,000 units and finish construction within 2021.
CHJ Automotive plans to launch its first electric SUV in the second half of 2018, and aims to deliver the model in 2019. The SUV boasts a length of over 5 meters and a body size similar to that of the Volvo XC90. Moreover, the model will be an extended-range HEV with a maximum range of 1,000km and a NEDC range of 700km.
CHJ Automotive plans to launch two new models, namely, a small and delicate SEV as well as a large and powerful SUV. The SEV was launched on Dec. 4, 2017. Since the SEV belongs to low speed electric vehicle, the SEV needn’t to have a passenger vehicle license plate.
The small model adopts 1+1 interior layout with a maximum range of 100km. It is known that one standard parking lot can accommodate four SEVs. More strikingly, the SEV is independent from battery charging piles and can get charged with a 220V plug. Meanwhile, its batteries can be dismantled and swapped, so that the batteries can be brought home to get charged.
The SEV will be a solution to the mobility with mileage of 0-20km. In addition, the small model will start sharing mobility business in Paris and San Francisco, according to Li Xiang's Weibo account.
