BAIC BJEV monthly sales down 43.16% year on year
Beijng (Gasgoo)- BAIC BJEV, a subsidiary of BAIC BluePark New Energy Technology Co.,Ltd, sold 1,197 new vehicles in May, down 43.16% from 2,106 of the same month of last year, BAIC BluePark said in an announcement.

The unit’s sales in the first five months were 5,374 units, more than halved when compared with the same period of last year, and less than May sales (6,711) of the startup NIO. And the automaker produced only 1,839 vehicles from January to May, down 73.89% year on year.
Actually, BAIC BJEV had been the most popular battery electric vehicle maker for seven years from 2013 to 2019. In 2019, its annual sales amounted to 150,600 vehicles while the whole-year sales in 2020 were in freefall with only 25,914 vehicles sold.
Consequently, its revenue slumped 50.19% in the first quarter of this year to 830 million yuan while its quarterly net loss nearly doubled to 854 million yuan.
Arcfox, the high-end vehicle marque under BAIC BJEV, has two models for sale, the Arcfox αT and the Arcfox αS whose price start at 241,900 yuan and 251,900 yuan respectively, higher than the starting price of the XPeng P7 and the BYD Han EV. The two HI (Huawei Inside) versions, which were codeveloped with Huawei, have higher price, which starts from 388,900 yuan.
