Geely and Renault launch new strategic cooperation in Brazil

On November 19, Geely Holding Group announced the formal launch of its latest strategic partnership with Renault in Brazil, following the establishment of a new joint venture, Renault Geely do Brasil.

A ceremony at the Ayrton Senna industrial complex marked the transition from planning to execution of their South American NEV strategy.

Investment & production plans

  • The joint venture will invest 3.8 billion Brazilian reais (≈ 5.1 billion yuan) to bring new energy vehicle platforms and models into localized production in Brazil.

  • The investment is expected to: Increase utilization of the industrial park; Strengthen Geely's presence in the Latin American NEV market

Upcoming localized models

Under the investment roadmap:

  • Two new models based on Geely's GEA NEV-dedicated architecture will be localized for production, with market launch scheduled for the second half of 2026.

  • Geely and Renault will jointly create a new NEV technology platform, from which Renault will introduce a new model planned to enter production in 2027.

Strategic roles of both partners

Renault provides:

  • A long-standing manufacturing footprint in Brazil

  • A mature and extensive local sales network

Geely contributes:

  • Advanced NEV technologies

  • A broad NEV product portfolio

Geely's EX5 and EX2 (Xingyuan) models already entered the Brazilian market via Renault's dealership network and have seen early consumer traction.

Local ecosystem development

The partners plan to build a complete local ecosystem, covering:

  • Localized manufacturing

  • Supply-chain operations

  • Sales and service networks

  • Long-term aftersales support

Broader alliance context

The Brazil initiative builds on prior Geely–Renault collaborations, including:

  • Joint vehicle manufacturing in South Korea

  • Co-founding of the global powertrain company HORSE Powertrain

The new phase of cooperation is expected to help both companies secure sustained growth in Brazil and the wider Latin American NEV market, where competition is rapidly intensifying.
