Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On January 4, Black Sesame Technologies said its Huashan A2000, a high-performance chip designed for full-scenario advanced driver's assistance applications, has passed relevant reviews by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Department of Defense, clearing it for global sales and deployment.

The approval effectively removes a key regulatory barrier and signals that the A2000 is ready to move into large-scale commercial use, providing core computing power for next-generation automated driving systems.
Built on a 7-nanometer process, the Huashan A2000 combines high-performance CPUs, GPUs, NPUs and multiple dedicated accelerators. According to the company, its real-world performance is on par with leading intelligent driving chips currently available globally. The chip supports a wide range of computing precisions, including FP16 and FP8 floating-point formats as well as INT4, INT8 and INT16, and works with Black Sesame Technologies' BaRT AI toolchain to streamline development from model training through deployment.
The A2000 taped out successfully in January 2025, but its high performance drew regulatory scrutiny from US authorities. After nearly a year of technical clarification and exchanges, the chip ultimately secured approval, making Black Sesame Technologies the only China-based company so far to pass this type of review for an advanced automotive computing chip.
Positioned as a high-computing-power driving platform for an open ecosystem, the A2000 allows automakers and third-party developers to build and deploy their own solutions on top of the chip. Black Sesame Technologies said it will continue to deepen cooperation with industry partners to accelerate the chip's adoption in mass-production vehicle programs, with the aim of pushing advanced intelligent driving technologies toward broader, more accessible commercialization.
