SAIC-GM to launch 12 new energy vehicle models in China from 2025 to 2027

From 2025 to 2027, SAIC-GM plans to introduce 12 all-new new energy vehicle models in the Chinese market, including battery-electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and range-extended electric vehicles. All models' product definitions and digital features will be developed entirely in-house by SAIC-GM and the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center to better meet Chinese consumers' needs and enable faster updates.

China's Henan province to waive toll fees for hydrogen-powered trucks

The General Office of the People's Government of Henan Province recently issued a notice which outlines that hydrogen-powered trucks traveling on toll roads within Henan province will be exempted from toll fees from January 25 to December 31, 2025. Additionally, battery electric trucks will enjoy a 30% discount on toll fees during the same period.

(LS energy) jointly conducted the groundbreaking ceremony of Hong Kong's first Choco-Swap station for passenger vehicles, marking a significant milestone in the city's development of new energy vehicle infrastructure.

China's annual power battery installation volume shoots up 41.5% in 2024

In December 2024, China's power battery installations reached 75.4GWh, marking a month-on-month increase of 12.2% and a year-on-year surge of 57.3%, according to the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance ("CAPBIIA").  

Of this total, ternary battery installation volume accounted for 14.3GWh, comprising 19% of total installations, reflecting a 5.5% month-on-month increase but a 13.4% year-on-year decline. Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries dominated with 61GWh, representing 80.9% of total installations, up 14% month-on-month and 95.1% year-on-year.

Xiaomi YU7's single-motor edition unveiled in MIIT's catalogue

Recently, the latest catalogue with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology ("MIIT") revealed the Xiaomi YU7 single-motor edition. Positioned as a mid-to-large SUV, this new model features a single-motor powertrain and is expected to be priced lower than the dual-motor version submitted last month.

XPENG, bp pulse to co-deploy charging network across China
