CATL, China Mobile to co-work on construction of zero-carbon data center
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese power battery giant CATL and the state-owned telecommunications operator China Mobile signed a framework agreement on Sept. 1 to carry out strategic cooperation on a slew of businesses including construction of a zero-carbon data center.
According to a press release posted on CATL's WeChat account, both parties will also team up in such fields as the distributed energy storage and intelligent synergy of power grid, the development of load-storage integrated lithium ion batteries and relevant operation & management platform, the construction and operation of virtual power plant, the new-generation communications business, the intelligent application of industrial internet, the cross-border business connection, and the pan-industry ecosystem fusion.

The latest move signifies the official commencement of the all-around strategic cooperation between CATL and China Mobile, the battery giant said. The duo will join hands to set a benchmark of green cooperation in the domestic new energy and communications domains, and contribute to the achievement of carbon neutrality.
Prior to the recent deal signing, the two companies have worked on many technical cooperative projects. Assisted by partners including China Mobile, CATL has built a massive enterprise-dedicated 5G network that covers a total area of 5 million square meters and serves the company’s 7 bases in 6 provinces like Fujian, Jiangsu, and Sichuan.
