China’s Jilin province eyes 70,000 fuel cell vehicles under operation by 2035

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- China's Jilin province expects to deploy 10 hydrogen-refueling stations and put 500 fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) into operation by the end of 2025, according to a document issued by Jilin Provincial Government a few days ago.

The government elaborates on the targets and plan designed for the development of local hydrogen industry, which is set to be implemented in three stages, namely the short term (2021-2025), the medium term (2026-2030), and the long term (2031-2035).

To be specific, for the year of 2021-2025, an industrial layout for the hydrogen industry will basically take shape in Jilin province with the industry chain being gradually improved and the industrial scale rapidly growing. During this period, Jilin's authorities will run a slew of demonstration projects to form an annual production capacity of 60,000-80,000 tonnes of hydrogen made from renewable energy sources.

As for the mid-term plan, Jilin's government plans to increase the total volume of hydrogen-refueling stations to 70 and FCVs under operation to 7,000 units by 2030. Additionally, the yearly production capacity of hydrogen made up of renewable energy sources is anticipated to reach 300,000-400,000 tonnes by that year.

Regarding the long-term targets, Jilin's government wishes to see 400 hydrogen-refueling stations deployed and 70,000 FCVs operated across the province by 2035. It also expects to have the ability to produce 1.2 million to 1.5 million tonnes of hydrogen by using renewable energy sources annually as of 2035.

Jilin province aims to hit 10 billion yuan ($1.379 billion), 30 billion yuan ($4.137 billion), and 100 billion yuan ($13.789 billion) in its annual production value of hydrogen industry by 2025, 2030, and 2035, respectively.
