Geely rolls off 20,000th set of in-house developed Aegis Short Blade Battery
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 26, Geely celebrated a significant milestone with the successful production of its 20,000th Aegis Short Blade Battery at the factory in Guiyang city. This achievement ensures that the new Galaxy E5 will be ready for delivery upon its market launch on August 3.

The Aegis Short Blade Battery represents Geely's latest innovation in self-developed and self-produced "blade-type" lithium iron phosphate batteries. With a cell length of 580mm and an energy density of 192Wh/kg, the battery boasts a lifespan of 3,500 cycles and an average charging rate of 2.45C. Impressively, it can charge from 10% to 80% state of charge (SOC) in just 17 minutes. The Galaxy E5 will be the first model to feature this battery.
The Galaxy E5 is Geely Galaxy's newest compact all-electric SUV, set to hit the market on August 3. Pre-sales have already begun, offering five different variants with a price range of 123,000 yuan to 157,000 yuan.
The Galaxy E5 measures 4,615mm in length, 1,901mm in width, and 1,670mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,750mm. Inside, it features a floating central control screen, a digital instrument cluster, and a head-up display (HUD). The central control screen is equipped with the Flyme Auto infotainment system, powered by China's first automotive-grade 7nm chipset, the SiEngine SE1000.
In terms of performance, the Galaxy E5's electric motor delivers a maximum power of 160kW. It offers two battery options: a 49.52kWh and a 60.22kWh version of the Aegis Short Blade Battery, providing a CLTC range of 440km and 530km, respectively.
